Scottish Ale

About This Style

Scottish Ales are available in deep copper to brown in color. Produced through a long boil process, Scottish Ale contains a higher level of unfermented sugars resulting in rich malty aromas and flavors. Hop character is low with a light floral or herbal essence. Smoky characters are common but the signature malt takes the center stage.

Food Pairing Notes: Meet (Beef), Cheese (pungent; Gorgonzola, Limburger)
