Hefeweizen is made with a high percentage of wheat and a yeast that generates a phenolic flavor of cloves and bananas. Due to the yeast content, the pour appears unfiltered and cloudy. Consumers will also frequently enjoy various flavors including spices, apples or even bubblegum. Hefeweizen offers little hop bitterness and a moderate alcohol level. Frequently served with a lemon wedge to reduce the wheat or yeast taste.
