About This Style

Honey Beer is, of course, made with honey. This versatile ingredient adds a rich flavor and exotic aromas to beer. Boiling honey takes away the aromas so brewers heat the honey to a point below boiling and once it is cooled, it is added to the beer while it is fermenting. The adition of honey does increase fermentation time.
